Finding the golden thread - die Suche nach dem roten Faden
Die Suche nach dem eigenen Stil kann für einen selbständigen Illustrator zu einer echten Herausforderung werden. Manche finden ihn sofort und manche suchen vielleicht ihr ganzes Leben lang danach.
Begonnen mit der Suche nach meinem persönlichen "Faden" habe ich, als ich beschlossen habe Illustration zu studieren.
Diverse kleinere Jobs in Druckereien und Werbeagenturen haben mich in meiner Anfangsphase ein großes Stück weiter in die richtige Richtung gebracht.
Auch die Frage, ob ich wirklich den richtigen Beruf gewählt habe, hat sich, seit meiner Ausbildung zur Mediengestalterin, zum Glück erübrigt.

Kreativ sein, Konzepte erstellen, Ideen finden und umsetzen, so wie mich mit Kunden austauschen und diesen in jeder Situation beratend zur Seite zu stehen,
ist genau das, was mich ausmacht. Ich liebe es.

Die schwarz-weißen Illustrationen spiegeln meine freie und manchmal auch etwas nachdenkliche Seite wieder. Hier kann ich mich austoben. Ideen, Gedanken und Erlebnisse freien Lauf zu lassen. Der "schwarze Vogel" – der "Blackbird" – steht für Freiheit, sich in alle Richtungen entwickeln zu können, die man möchte.
So habe ich den Anfang meines eigenen roten Fadens gefunden und werde ihn hoffentlich auch nicht mehr verlieren.

Finding your own style can be a real challenge for an independent illustrator. Some find it right away, others may spend their entire lives searching for it.
I started searching for my personal "thread" when I decided to study illustration. Various small jobs in print shops and advertising agencies took me a long way in the right direction.
Luckily, the question of whether I had chosen the right profession is no longer an issue since my training as a media designer. Being creative, creating concepts, finding and implementing ideas, as well as exchanging ideas with customers and advising them in every situation, is exactly what I do. I love it. My illustrations reflect my free and thoughtful side. This is where I can let off steam. To give free rein to ideas, thoughts and experiences. The "black bird" stands for the freedom to develop in any direction. That's how I found the beginning of my own golden thread and hopefully I won't lose it again.
